(36+30+28+27+29+29+28+27+27+28+29+27+29+31+30)/15=29

DSC_5122 Square - Pale Fellow Well MetOr in other words, or actually just in words, that is the average age of people I'm friends with on Facebook (technically the average of people who include their full birthdays on FB and covering all birthdays in 2008, so the average admitted age by the end of 2008).

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. It means compared to my friends I'm young, but then I'm fairly sure someone once said that key to being youthful is having young friends. And yes this is prompted by the twin occurrences of Mr Fact's birthday being the same as a cousin's (really must buy a card to go with that High School Musical CD I've apparently bought in conjunction with my brother [yes, my family go in for volunteering each other]) and Mr Noname making such a dreadful fuss about being old despite not being all that old (well, by fuss I mean he keeps bringing it up in a protesthing-too-much way).

Although all this comes from the perspective from someone who consistently has to remember which year it is, then which half, and so work out his age from the figures rather than simply knowing. Hence I wasn't being totally disingenuous when Mr Noname posited a couple of ages as mine and I replied "something like that". But then several of the higher numbers above I would put as somewhere below average, and even below me, simply because my conception of those ages does not tally with the people who seemingly are them.

Can you tell all this is being typed waiting for someone to ring back and that I really have very little to say and not much more of an idea how I'm going to say it? Instead all I have is a curious fellow peering out at me from the screen (it's not a disco day).

And for some reason Flickr seems to be half broken - anything that pops-up or drops-down doesn't.

Hmm.

Anyhoo,

Oh how nice, Im the oldest friend you have. wow. thththththt!!!

And yet you can still out yufspeke me. th recurring means what?

I think I know people older than you but they just don't put their full DOB on FB.

Recurring "th" is me blowing air through my lips like a small child thus showing my real age.

I'm as old as Ryan! Well, give or take four months.... Push that average up a bit!

Yay you!

Sorry, I don't know what the correct response to someone being about as old as someone else is. Wait a few more years and it'll probably be expected to say "well done you" along with commenting how sprightly the someone is looking.

I feel like I'm right in the median here. Am I? You couldn't sort this better?

How's that reading list I sent you by the way?

Honey (or honey-coloured and possibly flavoured one), as much as I don't quite love you, it's eleven o'clock on a Friday night and so not the time one should really being doing maths. But as at the moment I feel like going home and crying, except I don't really have the first bit sorted yet, so can't, and thus will indulge purely to save me going into the garden to eat worms (which is a really bad idea in most cities). The median's the bang in the middle one, right? And the mode is the most frequent, thus never being what is a la mode, fashion being nearly as heartless as all the potential flatmates I've been meeting or not.

Voila the list sorted 'A-Z' style by Google (that's the icon in their Excellente thing or whatever they call it).

As you will see (assuming you can count), the first 29 is the median, which does not correspond to your two-score and four-brace. Flukishly (it's ok, I haven't got the EN-GB autodict set up on this yet, so there's no red line thus can't be wrong) the mode is 27, which I still happen to be (those pointing out that I'll only remain so for less days than there are years in my age will not be thanked). Still think I need to get 1987 boy on FB.

Oh, and thanks for the reading list; it remains pending. I don't know how much money my Amazon or tired-in-Foyles budget will be yet - due in large part to not knowing how much anything costs or if I'm going to have to spend about 45% of my net income on rent just to find somewhere that'll have me. I'm not around the library I'm registered at often enough to be able to get back books without fines (and I do not do fines), and I don't have three utility bills to my non-existent new address yet to register with anything up here. Hence the pendingery.

And I'll explain the other stuff once there's names and addresses to explain.
